What If?

I continue to be asked the question by Democrats and Republicans alike whether Barack Hussein Obama could have lost the election since it appeared that he made few or no mistakes in the last two months of the campaign. The answer is YES. There are many things to be taken into consideration, and I will address the two candidates as "topics" for this speculation.

Barack Obama could have LOST the election by "stepping in it". There were a lot of things that the voters did not like about him, but he carefully maneuvered through the piles without once really stepping in it. He did get some on his shoes, but he showed great agility by not getting himself too messy.

First, there was the issue of "spreading the wealth around". When this comment was made, there was too little ink on it at first (big surprise). He avoided this particular messy pile by NEVER answering any questions on the subject (he did learn something from the Clintons).
This is a pure socialist comment, and accurately reflects his beliefs.

Second, there are all of his radical associations. The press absolutely refused to cover his professional and political and social connections. Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Father Flager, Screwy Louie, Tony Rezko and a host of Chicago political ne'er-do-wells just to name a few. Any of these could have brought him to his knees. This group would have been press fodder for any Republican running for office. This is a prime example of the bias in the media; especially the print media and the network news. He didn't do anything to avoid the topics, they practically never came up. John McCain did bring up his ties with this radical group in one of the debates, but Barack pulled a Clinton on him and the audience by not answering the charges. Brilliant!

Third, is the issue of his birth certificate. In his total arrogance toward the American people he pretended that this real issue did not exist. I never doubted that he was a legitimate candidate for the Presidency, but I could not get over his arrogance. When McCain's citizenship came into question, he produced a vault copy of his birth record within 24 hours of the charge; leveled by Obama operatives. In hind sight, I am of the belief that the entire birth certificate topic was leaked by the Obama campaign to "rally the troops" to show a high level of support. Another brilliant move!

Finally, Obama moved far to the right in the last 3 weeks of his campaign promising tax cuts to 95% of Americans. This is an absolute lie which, sadly, the majority of voters didn't see. The fact is that only about 50% of Americans pay income tax, so how can 95% of the people receive a tax cut when only 50% pay the taxes in the first place. This lie was what eventually sealed his victory which proves once again that today's America has the dumbest voters in history.

John Sinclair McClain ran his campaign like the political fool he is. Let's get something straight right now: John McCain is no conservative. He is a RINO (Republican in name only). Unfortunately, there are far too many like him in the Senate and Congress. He foolishly believed that if he reached out to the people on the "left" they would come flocking to him. What a joke! Those on the left courted him, but never intended to support him. The print media and the network news outlets praised his candidacy on one hand, but assaulted his campaign on the other. He thought that the media was in his corner. Just another example of his foolishness.

McCain's "handlers" should be drawn and quartered for being so stupid. This was one of the worst run campaigns I have ever witnessed in my 62 years! Choosing not to attack Barack Obama's radical friends was a huge blunder. Obama was weak on all of these radical associates. Any one of them, if approached intelligently, could have brought him to his knees. The "hands off" approach was wrong from the git-go.

Another of McCain's foolish moves was to support the Wall St. bailout and the AIG bailout. If he had gone in opposing the bailouts, he would have won the election. The polls indicated that more than 60% of registered voters did not want any part of this "corporate welfare". However, in his best liberal character, he went in and supported both. Both these actions were mistakes. Unfortunately, he was not alone; there were far too many in congress supporting these issues.

John McCain pulled off one of the most brilliant moves in recent political campaign history when he selected Sarah Palin to be his running mate. She took of like a rocket! She quickly united the conservative base which McCain had failed to do in his entire campaign. She was quickly becoming the "darling" of the campaign. The more the "left" and the press attacked her, the more popular she became. She was wooing many of the Hilliary voters, and she was frightening the Obama campaign. Then McCain's ignorant advisers decided that she was detracting from McCain himself, and decided to "muzzle" her for the good of the campaign. The McCain campaign once again began to drop in the polls. He should have turned her loose! When she, once again, was allowed to speak openly, McCain climbed in the polls. By now it was too late. The self-destruction of "McCain for President" was complete. McCain had all the tools necessary to win, but he listened to the fools he hired to run his campaign. When all was lost, these same fools tried to blame the selection of Palin as the cause of McCain's defeat. I hope these same fools decide to "help" the Democrats in future elections. John McCain could have won the election, but he let his senatorial ego get in his way.

Why No Rain for Georgia

It has been rather hectic around our house for the last 3 weeks. Our oldest son got married. My work is keeping me on the road most of the time. And my health hasn't been that good. However, all things considered, things are good. These are just a few reasons my blog posts haven't been coming out at least weekly. I hope to do better in the future.

As many of you are aware, we in North and central Georgia have been in a drought of late. Our rainfall levels have been coming up short for the past 4 or 5 years now. Lakes are low and so are the rivers and streams throughout the state. It is almost like we are on an island. All the states around us are not having the same problems, or at least not nearly as severe. This has caused me to wonder why.

We have had rain recently; 3 inches in some places, and the lake levels are on the rise because of it. The liberal weather people are saying that, "We are glad to get it, but it wont help." How will it not help? It seems to me that any rain would be welcomed and extolled for its helping the situation. The conservative weather people say, "Wow! The lakes are on the rise again!" This is how you can tell a liberal from a conservative weather person. The liberals are always in a crisis mode, while the conservatives are always looking for the bright spot. If you don't believe me, just watch your local stations and see how they report news and weather. It is very easy to tell who is liberal and who is conservative.

It is always fun to poke fun at my liberal friends, but that's not the reason I'm writing this. A little over a year ago our governor, Sonny Perdue, asked us to pray for rain. I am a firm believer that God answers prayer; especially those prayers raised out of need. Since then the rain has increased all around us, but not here. Here, we are still bogged down in a drought. When I looked into the prayer vigil, I discovered why. The answer will likely offend some of you, but I ask that you look into what I have to say.

Gov. Perdue wished to "seek help from a higher power". He, along with most in the state legislature, prayed on Nov. 11, 2007. This is a good idea. Where he went wrong is that he didn't trust his God to grant his request. He called on the Hindus, Buddhist, Muslims, and many existing cult religions to participate. This is like saying to God that I want your help, but you may not be able to handle it by yourself. How utterly ridiculous! God, Almighty God, can handle any situation and answer any prayer if it is a part of His plan. Don't get me wrong. I think Sonny Perdue is a devoted Christian, but he made a decision based on political correctness rather than faith.

Elijah was a man of God with great faith and God rewarded him.

1 Kings 18
Elijah and Obadiah 1 After a long time, in the third year, the word of the LORD came to Elijah: "Go and present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the land." 2 So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab. Now the famine was severe in Samaria, 3 and Ahab had summoned Obadiah, who was in charge of his palace. (Obadiah was a devout believer in the LORD. 4 While Jezebel was killing off the LORD's prophets, Obadiah had taken a hundred prophets and hidden them in two caves, fifty in each, and had supplied them with food and water.) 5 Ahab had said to Obadiah, "Go through the land to all the springs and valleys. Maybe we can find some grass to keep the horses and mules alive so we will not have to kill any of our animals." 6 So they divided the land they were to cover, Ahab going in one direction and Obadiah in another.
7 As Obadiah was walking along, Elijah met him. Obadiah recognized him, bowed down to the ground, and said, "Is it really you, my lord Elijah?"
8 "Yes," he replied. "Go tell your master, 'Elijah is here.' "
9 "What have I done wrong," asked Obadiah, "that you are handing your servant over to Ahab to be put to death? 10 As surely as the LORD your God lives, there is not a nation or kingdom where my master has not sent someone to look for you. And whenever a nation or kingdom claimed you were not there, he made them swear they could not find you. 11 But now you tell me to go to my master and say, 'Elijah is here.' 12 I don't know where the Spirit of the LORD may carry you when I leave you. If I go and tell Ahab and he doesn't find you, he will kill me. Yet I your servant have worshiped the LORD since my youth. 13 Haven't you heard, my lord, what I did while Jezebel was killing the prophets of the LORD ? I hid a hundred of the LORD's prophets in two caves, fifty in each, and supplied them with food and water. 14 And now you tell me to go to my master and say, 'Elijah is here.' He will kill me!"
15 Elijah said, "As the LORD Almighty lives, whom I serve, I will surely present myself to Ahab today."
Elijah on Mount Carmel 16 So Obadiah went to meet Ahab and told him, and Ahab went to meet Elijah. 17 When he saw Elijah, he said to him, "Is that you, you troubler of Israel?"
18 "I have not made trouble for Israel," Elijah replied. "But you and your father's family have. You have abandoned the LORD's commands and have followed the Baals. 19 Now summon the people from all over Israel to meet me on Mount Carmel. And bring the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal and the four hundred prophets of Asherah, who eat at Jezebel's table."
20 So Ahab sent word throughout all Israel and assembled the prophets on Mount Carmel. 21 Elijah went before the people and said, "How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him." But the people said nothing.
22 Then Elijah said to them, "I am the only one of the LORD's prophets left, but Baal has four hundred and fifty prophets. 23 Get two bulls for us. Let them choose one for themselves, and let them cut it into pieces and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. 24 Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the LORD. The god who answers by fire—he is God." Then all the people said, "What you say is good."
25 Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, "Choose one of the bulls and prepare it first, since there are so many of you. Call on the name of your god, but do not light the fire." 26 So they took the bull given them and prepared it. Then they called on the name of Baal from morning till noon. "O Baal, answer us!" they shouted. But there was no response; no one answered. And they danced around the altar they had made.
27 At noon Elijah began to taunt them. "Shout louder!" he said. "Surely he is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened." 28 So they shouted louder and slashed themselves with swords and spears, as was their custom, until their blood flowed. 29 Midday passed, and they continued their frantic prophesying until the time for the evening sacrifice. But there was no response, no one answered, no one paid attention.
30 Then Elijah said to all the people, "Come here to me." They came to him, and he repaired the altar of the LORD, which was in ruins. 31 Elijah took twelve stones, one for each of the tribes descended from Jacob, to whom the word of the LORD had come, saying, "Your name shall be Israel." 32 With the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD, and he dug a trench around it large enough to hold two seahs [a] of seed. 33 He arranged the wood, cut the bull into pieces and laid it on the wood. Then he said to them, "Fill four large jars with water and pour it on the offering and on the wood."
34 "Do it again," he said, and they did it again. "Do it a third time," he ordered, and they did it the third time. 35 The water ran down around the altar and even filled the trench.
36 At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: "O LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. 37 Answer me, O LORD, answer me, so these people will know that you, O LORD, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again."
38 Then the fire of the LORD fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.
39 When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, "The LORD -he is God! The LORD -he is God!"
40 Then Elijah commanded them, "Seize the prophets of Baal. Don't let anyone get away!" They seized them, and Elijah had them brought down to the Kishon Valley and slaughtered there.
41 And Elijah said to Ahab, "Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain." 42 So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees.
43 "Go and look toward the sea," he told his servant. And he went up and looked. "There is nothing there," he said. Seven times Elijah said, "Go back."
44 The seventh time the servant reported, "A cloud as small as a man's hand is rising from the sea." So Elijah said, "Go and tell Ahab, 'Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.' "
45 Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rain came on and Ahab rode off to Jezreel. 46 The power of the LORD came upon Elijah and, tucking his cloak into his belt, he ran ahead of Ahab all the way to Jezreel.
Footnotes:
1 Kings 18:32 That is, probably about 13 quarts (about 15 liters)

If only Gov. Perdue had had the faith of Elijah, we would no longer be concerned with the lack of rain or the low levels of our lakes and streams. The next time a politician asks for prayer, I hope that he realizes that the Creator God is the only one that needs to be included.

2 "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
3 "You shall have no other gods before [a] me.
a. Exodus 20:3 Or besides

When we trust in God and put Him first in our lives, we too will receive great rewards. Trust in Him who created us!

Gradualism

For those who have known me for any length of time, and have discussed history or government with me, you know that gradualism has been one of my "soap box" topics. One would have to be completely blind to think that gradualism is not taking place in our system of government today. Also, it is invading our churches. It is an ongoing commitment by those who wish to change our country's form of government, and by those who wish to render Christianity irrelevant in our society.

Gradualism is a process by which changes are made little by little in hopes that the end results wont be so shocking. I can vividly remember the movie "Tom Jones" when it first came out. It was called "shocking" by movie reviewers around the country. The "adult nature" of the movie caused many in our Great Nation to call on Hollywood to be more family friendly. If you weren't at least 17, and could prove it, you weren't allowed to enter theaters where it was being played. Today that same movie is rated "PG-13". What has happened since it debuted? Gradually we have become more callused to this sort of movie. The adult content pales in comparison to what is seen on prime time TV shows today. We are no longer shocked by such things. Is this good or bad?

Anthony Perkins was being interviewed By Johnny Carson on the "Tonight Show". At the time Mr. Perkins had two sons about the same ages as mine, 12 and 13. Mr. Carson asked him, "Have your sons ever seen your movie 'Psycho'?" Mr. Perkins answered emphatically, "No, they have not!" Mr. Carson then asked, "Why? Are you afraid they will be shocked and frightened by the contents?" Mr. Perkins' answer was very informative. He said, "No! I'm afraid that they will grow up not being shocked or frightened by such things if they are continually over-exposed to them."

We and our children have become over-exposed to sex and violence. This has been brought on by gradualism. What do you think would have happened if the things that we see and hear daily had been openly discussed in the 1930's and 40's? Our parents and grandparents would have not stood for it! They would have demanded an immediate change! However, in today's society, sadly, they have become common place. Our task today is to shield our children and grandchildren from such things. It is an extremely difficult job! They are exposed at every turn in life; even in schools.

Our government is changing too. We are becoming more and more socialist and less and less a republic. We are allowing our representatives to do this, and we keep putting them back in office. More social programs and less rewards for individual achievement. As a matter of fact, those who work hard, and risk their fortunes to gain success are being punished by our tax system. These are the men and women who create jobs. When they are punished, it punishes all who work for them; less available jobs, and less or no pay increases. The leftist understand this and want the oppressive tax structure to continue because they want America to fail. I once thought that they were just ignorant of the facts, but the more I talk with them, the true leftist, the more I realize that they are fully aware of just what they are doing. Again, if you introduced what is happening in government today to those who bravely fought in WWI and WWII, they would be appalled. This is not what they fought to protect. All these changes have been made through gradualism.

We have three branches of government: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. Through the years the lines between these branches have become blurred. It took a giant step with the Earl Warren court. This is the court (Supreme Court) who overstepped its boundaries to branch out into the legislative area of government. They began writing laws instead of interpreting them. That's how we got the "Abortion on Demand" laws passed while we complained, but sat on our hands and did nothing about it. Gradualism only works when we don't take the time to carefully look at events and process events of the day. We are as much at fault as those perpetuating such things. We must become and stay active in our government if we don't want it to oppress us.

Sen. Joseph McCarthy tried to warn us back in the 1950's about what was taking place in our Great Nation, and we made fun of him. The leftist and the Hollywood moguls went out of their way to discredit him. They attacked him personally. They could not attack his ideas, because they would have had to prove their side of the argument; and to do that, they would have had to expose themselves. I'm not sure whether Sen. McCarthy used the term "gradualism" or not, but that is exactly the topic of his warning. After fifty or so years have passed, and we can see what is taking place under our very noses, I think we owe Sen. McCarthy's family an apology. He was right! Gradualism has permeated every aspect of our government, and much of it is due to the influence of Hollywood. How did we come to such a state where we allow Hollywood to influence our lives and our government? We let it happen! Just look at the best selling magazines today. They are all about Hollywood celebrities and their lives. We are being seduced by the celebrity culture as we long for our lives to be like theirs. What a tragedy!

With this last election, we have gradually taken further steps toward a socialist form of government. We managed to elect a president with Marxist tendencies, and legislatures with those same leanings. We have gradually come to this point in our government. It did not happen overnight. When George McGovern ran for president, he was summarily rejected by both parties. His proposed policies were far to radical for the voters. President Elect Barack Obama is far to the left of Sen. McGovern. This all has taken place due to gradualism. We, as a nation, have become less and less shocked by such things. This election outcome would not and could not have happened even ten years ago; not because of race as many would have you believe, but because of stated policies. They would have been far to radical for the voters, and they should have been today. Sadly, those policies were never vetted by the "lame" stream media. It is definitely not because of race that I did not support Sen. Obama, but it was because of his stated policies and what history tells us about the same and similar policies which have been tried around the world with abject failure. Yet, through gradualism, American voters have become accustomed to such outrageous leanings. May God help us!

I can remember Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev standing at the United Nations pounding his shoe on the rostrum and saying, "Your grandchildren will grow up under communism." He also stated that it would happen without a shot being fired. The only way this can be accomplished is through the evils of gradualism. It is like erosion; taking a little at a time. Gradualism works best when the populace allow themselves to be whipped into an emotional frenzy. Lets put a stop to it right now!

I included a clip which contains an interview with a former Soviet KGB agent. This interview was done 23 years ago. Listen carefully to what he has to say about what is going on in our Great Nation today; and to what he says as to how it all got started. Also, for all you liberals out there, pay particularly close attention to what will happen to those with your leanings if the takeover is accomplished.

Prayer Is Essential for Any Administration

I apologize for the hiatus, but my computer has been on its own hiatus: I just got it upgraded by a good friend, but it took a week. Thus the reason for the lapse in entries. Now I'll be going on a golf outing "just for the guys" for a week, so it will be another week before my next post. This will give my limited brain time to come up with some ideas for this blog: I'll be taking notes.

First of all, I would like to draw your attention to the comments to my blog. The person who identifies himself as a "relative" has some severe problems, and I don't even know who he is. Mainly, he has not accepted Christ as his Savior. Other things relate to the inaccuracy of his comments...we wont get into that.

We now have a new President Elect. Congratulations to Barack Hussein Obama! He won the election fair and square. He defeated another liberal (though not nearly as liberal as he is) in a history making election. He has become the first person of "color" to win the office office of the president, but we must remember that he is the President of the United States; not the just First Black President of the United States. My prayers will be with him and his appointees for the entire time of his presidency. With that said, I encourage you all to pray for this man too. Like any leader; he needs all the help he can get, and praying for God's intervention is the best we can do.

It amazes me that John RINO McCain's advisers are now blaming Sarah Palin for his loss. Sarah Palin was the only bright spot in the McCain campaign. She united the conservative base which McCain could not do. She was the reason the election was as close as it was. I believe that we have not seen the last of Sarah Palin on the national front. She would have had a better chance of beating Sen. Obama than Sen. McCain. She is a true conservative.

I would like to thank the anonymous donor for the gift of "Meanings of the Quran" and "Seeking the Treasures of the Quran". I'll put these books along side of my word for word English translation of the Quran: a book Muslims are trying to get outlawed in America. Now I have to make up my mind as to whether I will trust what I read in the Quran or whether I will trust what a Muslim leader wants me to get out of the Quran. Boy this is difficult! I think I will go with the word for word translation, but these books will help me to understand where the Muslims stand, and what they are trying to accomplish. It still remains that the Muslims are the most violent group of people who have existed on the face of the earth. Their religion promotes violence against "the infidels". They are not a religion of love. Just look at how they treat their women and those who will not convert. You can say good things about them, and I personally know one who I love and respect, and if there is one there is bound to be more; however, the fact remains that it took from 9-11-01 to 12-13-01 for one of their leaders here in this Great Nation to say that what happened on 9-11 was wrong. That sure sounds like a religion of love to me.

The existence of any nation on the face of the earth is there because God so ordains it. All nations and governments exist because of Him. He is in control! There is nothing that happens without His approval. He is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. Everything that happens is known to Him before it happens. Therefore, Sen. Obama is a part of His plan, and he merits our respect for that reason. Let us not prejudge President Elect Obama before he takes office. Because I am an American before any political party or leaning I wish Sen. Obama nothing but the very best.

Two Reasons I Will Not Vote for Obama

This has been one hotly contested presidential campaign! We have two of the weakest candidates running in both parties. There are too many problems with each candidate to write them down here. Besides, it would make this entry far too long to hold anyone's attention. So I'll just keep it simple.

Let me Begin by saying that in the last eight months I have been called a racist, bigot, radical, extremest, religious zealot; and that was by my relatives. I've been called worse by others. I have had more than one person tell me that, "anyone who doesn't vote for Obama is a racist."
I have an excellent friend who happens to be a Black American who has an Obama sticker on his car to avoid having his car vandalized in his neighborhood. I have heard people say they will never "vote for a [Black man] for president." These things are completely out of line. Each man should be judged on his character and his proposals, not on color or party affiliations.

Yesterday I overheard a conversation between two people in a Kroger store. One was relating that she was glad she voted early for Obama because she doesn't believe she could support him now. What?! That is good logic if you are a fool. I have also heard people say that they were voting for Obama "because it's time America had a Black president." My belief is that it is time we had a good president; one that is good for our Great Nation. I don't believe that either candidate will be "good for America", so I will have to vote for the one who will do the least harm, and do the best job in protecting our country.

I am a Christian. I approach every election using Christian principles as my guide. As my title suggests, I will give only two reasons I cannot support Obama for president. First is his view on abortion. Not only does he support abortion on demand, but he also supports partial birth abortions and infanticide. He supports teacher's rights to take a student to have an abortion without parental consent. He said in one of his interviews that, "We have two daughters. We will teach them moral values, but if one of them makes a mistake I don't want them punished with a child." Punished?! I think that we MUST support the rights of the weakest, and that would be the unborn child. Children are never mistakes! Children may make a mistake and become pregnant, but that child is a gift from God. It may not seem so at the time, but nonetheless, the child is a gift from God.

Gen. 1:27, 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Ps. 139:13-16, 13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, 16 your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

Jer. 1:5, 5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew [a] you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."
a. Jeremiah 1:5 Or chose

We are all wonderful creations of God. We are a part of His perfect plan. Things happen in our lives which we want no part of, but God doesn't use our plans as His guide. Thank God He doesn't! He also provided us with a way of salvation through His son Jesus. We all make mistakes, we all sin, but Jesus is there for us to provide us with forgiveness. So, if you have been a part of an abortion, seek Jesus and He will forgive. After all, He has already paid the price for all sins. Because pregnancies aren't "mistakes" they are gifts from God, and Obama doesn't understand that; I can't support him.

Second, Obama wants to "redistribute the wealth"; just ask Joe the plumber. He wants to take from the producers and give it to the non producers. In other words, he isn't interested in raising people up, he is interested in bringing down the ones who succeed: pure socialism. Socialism has never worked in any country in which it was tried. The Pilgrims formed a socialist/communist state when they first arrived. The outcome was predictable. The producers were angry that the non producers grew lazier so everyone slowed down their production: they nearly starved to death. After they adopted the "free enterprise" approach, there was plenty.

The early Church also had problems.

2 Th. 3:6-15, 6In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching[a] you received from us. 7For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, 8nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. 9We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow. 10For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat."
11We hear that some among you are idle. They are not busy; they are busybodies. 12Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the bread they eat. 13And as for you, brothers, never tire of doing what is right.
a. 2 Thessalonians 3:6 Or tradition

When you take away a person's desire to work, you steal their dignity. Man was designed to work. The Social Welfare instituted during the FDR presidency did nothing but steal the dignity of its recipients, and it continues today. Churches in the community took care of those in need within the community, but with the implementation of welfare our churches abdicated their responsibilities; giving it over to the government. Who would do a better job at giving a person a hand up instead of a handout; all the time, allowing the person to retain their dignity?

Well, these are but only two reasons I'm not voting for Obama, but I am voting. I implore you all to vote also. We are a Democratic Republic. This means that we elect people to represent us. We are not a Democracy! Thank God we aren't a democracy! A lynch mob is a democracy! We are a Republic! Every time I hear one of our elected officials refer to our Great Nation as a Democracy it sends chills up my spine. We have elected a person to represent us and they aren't aware of the form of government we have.

Ro. 13:1-2, 1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

God gave us this government. It is a government which requires our involvement; our vote. If we choose not to vote, it's like saying that God didn't know what He was doing when he put this government in place. I think that we who are Christians must vote because it is our Christian duty. See you at the polls.

The Evils of Multiculturalism

Multiculturalism is one of those things that you wonder where it came from and what purpose it serves. It is not something of which we should be proud. It is a blight on our country, and weakens our Great Nation as the movement gains strength. It rose to great prominence during the Clinton administration. It is a political tool used to separate people into groups so that each group can be targeted for campaigning. That is why you will hear a person seeking office say one thing to Blacks and another to Hispanics, or one thing to unions and another in "right to work" states. One would think we would catch on! James Carvel is the man who worked to perfect its use during both of President Clinton's campaigns. It has literally caused an extreme hatred between the parties which never existed before its rise. The hatred, if left alone, will eventually tear down our Country's character and structure.

When you take a good look at what exactly multiculturalism is, you can spot the evil which lies within its structure. Multiculturalism's sole purpose is to divide people. It pits the haves against the have nots; the Blacks against the Whites; the Blacks against the Hispanics; the Blacks and the Hispanics against the Orientals; the Jews against the Christians; Catholics against Protestants, and so on and so on. It is divisive in its very nature. It stirs up bigotry among our population for the purpose of winning an election. How evil is that?!

I recently saw a sign which read, "Assimilation makes us great, but diversity makes us hate." My initial reaction was to criticize the person posting the sign for his lack of knowledge, and his anger; but after thinking about it for several days, and rereading the message several times I realized that he was spot on.

Our Country was founded by people of different backgrounds. Families flocked to America for the equal opportunities which were available here. They came here from the world over seeking a better life for themselves and their children. Although they chose to settle in communities where others from their country of origin were, they insisted on their children learning the American Way. They tried diligently to learn the English language, and tried to speak it at home with their children. They were thankful and proud to be here. They were anxious to contribute to our Country, and too proud to take handouts. They worked their butts off! When the world was at war, they signed up to fight for their new country. Many were asked to fight against their former country, the Germans, the Italians, the Japanese; and they did it with pride. They were American heroes of a special kind. They were assimilated into our Great Nation, and they were glad to be here. They had one thing in common, they were all Americans.

Today the emphasis is on the things that make us different: diversity. We no longer have Americans who happen to be Black; we have African-Americans. We no longer have Americans who happen to be Hispanic; we have Latino-Americans. There is a hyphenated description for every race of people who reside in the United States today. This can't be good! We are focusing on our differences rather than the fact that we are Americans. We should be Americans first! Where is our pride and patriotism!

When Jesus was accused of using the power of demons to drive out demons, He was clear in his message. This message also applies to the multicultural movement in our Great Nation today.

Matthew 12:25, 25Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.

Multiculturalism divides our Country against itself. Those people who promote this are either ignorant to the effect it is having, or despise our Country for its success. It is important that we unite once again, and do those things that make us a stronger nation and greater people. After all, we are in this together.

The Power of Political Correctness

Today, we live in an era of "political correctness" (PC, also for
politically correct). We have heard this characterization used many
times in the last 30 or so years; much more frequently in recent
years. Have you ever wondered what exactly PC is, and what are the
ramifications of this so called movement? What I have noticed is that
if one is in the minority, every bad thing that happens to them
is because someone or some branch of government acted in a
politically incorrect way toward them. Have you noticed that the
minorities who ignore PC succeed or are in the process of succeeding?
PC has become a cancer on our society. It is anti-capitalist in its very
nature. It rewards bad behavior. It has caused many companies to
unnecessarily re-evaluate how they do business; usually at a higher
cost. It is an attack on conservatism. (When I use conservatism here,
it is not a political thing I'm writing about. It is those of you out there
who run their families and finances in a conservative manner; in
other words, about 70% of Americans.) We used to call this "having
common sense". I am older than most of you on my mailing list, and
I can remember vividly having the idea of common sense preached
to me by my parents, and the concept of common sense taught to
me in school. You can't do it today though, it would be politically incorrect.

During the aftermath of 9-11, President Bush created one of the
largest government agencies, and one of the least needed in our
Great Nation's history: Airport Security. For those of you who have
traveled recently or travel frequently, you know what a mess it is
going through security. Its sole purpose is PC. We can't use common
sense to determine that ALL the terrorists on 9-11 were Arab men
between 18 and 30 years of age, so we have to check everyone
boarding a flight. If we were allowed to profile, our lines would be
much shorter with less hassle. By the way; profiling is one of the
necessary tools our policemen and women (trying to be PC here) use
to solve crimes. Too bad we aren't allowed to apply that same
common sense approach to the airport.

PC has moved into our schools as well. We can't do or say anything
that may offend people. As most of you know, my wife, Harriet,
retired from teaching this year. She tells me of the things that go on
in our government indoctrination centers we call public schools. If it
weren't so sad, it would be funny. At one point teachers weren't
allowed to take up homework. They had to provide a basket in which
students could voluntarily put their homework. Why? Because those
students who didn't do their homework may be embarrassed by being
singled out or accidentally noticed by their classmates. I don't
know about you, but fear of embarrassment was a motivator for me in school.

Another spin-off of the PC movement is the "zero tolerance" policy
adopted by almost every school in America. Zero tolerance is for
those who have zero common sense. You have all heard the stories
about students getting suspended from school for, in many cases,
accidentally violating the zero tolerance policy. A girl was suspended
in '06 for having a knife on her charm bracelet. I'm sure she posed a
threat to her fellow students. Also in '06 a 3rd grader was suspended
for drawing a gun during art class. In '08 a boy was suspended for
having a table knife in the trunk of his car: a car used the previous day
to carry table supplies to a family reunion. Zero common sense is
what was used to decide whether these notorious people were worthy
of staying in school. After all, you can't stop a child from bringing a
weapon into school when you let a girl wear a bracelet with a knife
charm on it. That would be politically incorrect! That would be
stereotyping! Not in our schools!

One thing that we are all feeling the brunt of lately is the financial
decline. How did it happen? What was behind this market meltdown?
One doesn't have to go far to find that the culprit is PC. Finance
companies and banks were told by Congress to lower their
qualifications for loans so that more people could own their own
homes. This all sounds delightful; so PC, but look at what has
happened since lending institutions suspended common sense. There
is a tried and true reason for the requirements on a loan application.
Also, I realize that there are some who deserve a chance when ALL
the qualifications aren't met. This is where common sense of the loan
officer comes into play. We are now finding out that the loan officers
KNEW full well that a large percentage of those receiving high risk
home loans would eventually default. And who do we have to blame
for this? Look in the mirror! We continue to put people in congress
who are more concerned with buying votes than doing the job we put
them there to do: and we keep sending the same people back. After
all, everyone else's congressmen and women (trying to be PC) is the
problem, but definitely not mine. Is this using common sense?

The Bible speaks to us about finances. There are way too many
instructions concerning finances to include here, but I am including
a few. These are from the book of Common Sense, AKA Proverbs.

Proverbs 6:1-3, 1 My son, if you have put up security for your
neighbor, if you have struck hands in pledge for another, 2 if
you have been trapped by what you said, ensnared by the words
of your mouth, 3 then do this, my son, to free yourself, since you
have fallen into your neighbor's hands: Go and humble yourself;
press your plea with your neighbor!

Proverbs 11:15, 15 He who puts up security for another will surely
suffer, but whoever refuses to strike hands in pledge is safe.

Proverbs 17:18, 18 A man lacking in judgment strikes hands in
pledge and puts up security for his neighbor.

Proverbs 22:26-27, 26 Do not be a man who strikes hands in pledge
or puts up security for debts; 27 if you lack the means to pay,
your very bed will be snatched from under you.
(from the NIV)

You are only as good as the security you provide. Your neighbor,
having no security, is only as good as that which he has provided.
Those defaulting on their homes lacked the necessary security.
Owning a home is not a right, it is a privilege; a privilege we must
earn. We do not deserve it just because we see others owning their
homes. Thus the financial problems of today.

One of my favorite books of the Bible is The Revelation. In The
Revelation, Jesus speaks to the seven churches of that day. He
tells them what they are doing wrong and what they are doing right.
The letter to the Church of Laodicea is one I like to tie to the PC
movement. Laodicea was a city with many things going for it. It was
a banking center. It had a medical school. And it manufactured
much sought after purple dye for fabrics. If we look around us
today, we are in that city. We have financial institutions, medical
schools, and industry. We too, like the people of Laodicea, have
become complacent in our ways. We are willing to "leave well
enough alone". We are neither hot or cold. We are middle of the
road. We are Politically Correct!

Rev. 3:14-22, 14"To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:
These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the
ruler of God's creation. 15I know your deeds, that you are neither
cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16So, because
you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold-I am about to spit you out
of my mouth. 17You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do
not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched,
pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18I counsel you to buy from me gold
refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to
wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put
on your eyes, so you can see. 19Those whom I love I rebuke and
discipline. So be earnest, and repent. 20Here I am! I stand at the
door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will
come in and eat with him, and he with me. 21To him who overcomes,
I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame
and sat down with my Father on his throne. 22He who has an ear, let
him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."
(from the NIV)

It is not "OK" if people are acting in an immoral way. They must be
called to task for their actions: lovingly called to task. We look at
people and wonder how they can help us. We don't want to offend
them because they might take their business elsewhere. We must be
PC in our dealings with them. Common sense is an obsolete theory; it
has been replaced by the much fairer Political Correct movement.
Aren't we lucky!
