Gradualism

For those who have known me for any length of time, and have discussed history or government with me, you know that gradualism has been one of my "soap box" topics. One would have to be completely blind to think that gradualism is not taking place in our system of government today. Also, it is invading our churches. It is an ongoing commitment by those who wish to change our country's form of government, and by those who wish to render Christianity irrelevant in our society.

Gradualism is a process by which changes are made little by little in hopes that the end results wont be so shocking. I can vividly remember the movie "Tom Jones" when it first came out. It was called "shocking" by movie reviewers around the country. The "adult nature" of the movie caused many in our Great Nation to call on Hollywood to be more family friendly. If you weren't at least 17, and could prove it, you weren't allowed to enter theaters where it was being played. Today that same movie is rated "PG-13". What has happened since it debuted? Gradually we have become more callused to this sort of movie. The adult content pales in comparison to what is seen on prime time TV shows today. We are no longer shocked by such things. Is this good or bad?

Anthony Perkins was being interviewed By Johnny Carson on the "Tonight Show". At the time Mr. Perkins had two sons about the same ages as mine, 12 and 13. Mr. Carson asked him, "Have your sons ever seen your movie 'Psycho'?" Mr. Perkins answered emphatically, "No, they have not!" Mr. Carson then asked, "Why? Are you afraid they will be shocked and frightened by the contents?" Mr. Perkins' answer was very informative. He said, "No! I'm afraid that they will grow up not being shocked or frightened by such things if they are continually over-exposed to them."

We and our children have become over-exposed to sex and violence. This has been brought on by gradualism. What do you think would have happened if the things that we see and hear daily had been openly discussed in the 1930's and 40's? Our parents and grandparents would have not stood for it! They would have demanded an immediate change! However, in today's society, sadly, they have become common place. Our task today is to shield our children and grandchildren from such things. It is an extremely difficult job! They are exposed at every turn in life; even in schools.

Our government is changing too. We are becoming more and more socialist and less and less a republic. We are allowing our representatives to do this, and we keep putting them back in office. More social programs and less rewards for individual achievement. As a matter of fact, those who work hard, and risk their fortunes to gain success are being punished by our tax system. These are the men and women who create jobs. When they are punished, it punishes all who work for them; less available jobs, and less or no pay increases. The leftist understand this and want the oppressive tax structure to continue because they want America to fail. I once thought that they were just ignorant of the facts, but the more I talk with them, the true leftist, the more I realize that they are fully aware of just what they are doing. Again, if you introduced what is happening in government today to those who bravely fought in WWI and WWII, they would be appalled. This is not what they fought to protect. All these changes have been made through gradualism.

We have three branches of government: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. Through the years the lines between these branches have become blurred. It took a giant step with the Earl Warren court. This is the court (Supreme Court) who overstepped its boundaries to branch out into the legislative area of government. They began writing laws instead of interpreting them. That's how we got the "Abortion on Demand" laws passed while we complained, but sat on our hands and did nothing about it. Gradualism only works when we don't take the time to carefully look at events and process events of the day. We are as much at fault as those perpetuating such things. We must become and stay active in our government if we don't want it to oppress us.

Sen. Joseph McCarthy tried to warn us back in the 1950's about what was taking place in our Great Nation, and we made fun of him. The leftist and the Hollywood moguls went out of their way to discredit him. They attacked him personally. They could not attack his ideas, because they would have had to prove their side of the argument; and to do that, they would have had to expose themselves. I'm not sure whether Sen. McCarthy used the term "gradualism" or not, but that is exactly the topic of his warning. After fifty or so years have passed, and we can see what is taking place under our very noses, I think we owe Sen. McCarthy's family an apology. He was right! Gradualism has permeated every aspect of our government, and much of it is due to the influence of Hollywood. How did we come to such a state where we allow Hollywood to influence our lives and our government? We let it happen! Just look at the best selling magazines today. They are all about Hollywood celebrities and their lives. We are being seduced by the celebrity culture as we long for our lives to be like theirs. What a tragedy!

With this last election, we have gradually taken further steps toward a socialist form of government. We managed to elect a president with Marxist tendencies, and legislatures with those same leanings. We have gradually come to this point in our government. It did not happen overnight. When George McGovern ran for president, he was summarily rejected by both parties. His proposed policies were far to radical for the voters. President Elect Barack Obama is far to the left of Sen. McGovern. This all has taken place due to gradualism. We, as a nation, have become less and less shocked by such things. This election outcome would not and could not have happened even ten years ago; not because of race as many would have you believe, but because of stated policies. They would have been far to radical for the voters, and they should have been today. Sadly, those policies were never vetted by the "lame" stream media. It is definitely not because of race that I did not support Sen. Obama, but it was because of his stated policies and what history tells us about the same and similar policies which have been tried around the world with abject failure. Yet, through gradualism, American voters have become accustomed to such outrageous leanings. May God help us!

I can remember Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev standing at the United Nations pounding his shoe on the rostrum and saying, "Your grandchildren will grow up under communism." He also stated that it would happen without a shot being fired. The only way this can be accomplished is through the evils of gradualism. It is like erosion; taking a little at a time. Gradualism works best when the populace allow themselves to be whipped into an emotional frenzy. Lets put a stop to it right now!

I included a clip which contains an interview with a former Soviet KGB agent. This interview was done 23 years ago. Listen carefully to what he has to say about what is going on in our Great Nation today; and to what he says as to how it all got started. Also, for all you liberals out there, pay particularly close attention to what will happen to those with your leanings if the takeover is accomplished.

Lets get this out of the way: I am a troll. I have posted obscene and vulgar comments on your blog, and I probably will again in the future.

For the sake of a rational discussion, let me ask you: why is it that movements of gradualism such as the one you pointed out have almost universally been moving in a more liberal direction? You can stand around all day bemoaning about how this is wrong just because you don't like it, or that this is happening because more people are becoming "bad", but have you considered the failures and harm of the old system of moral values? The good old days you so fondly remembered were not so good for a great many people.

Shielding children completely from all the shocking crap of the world has been proven again and again to be one of the worst ways to help them cope with the real world. I'm sure even you heard stories of how so-and-so's daughter was such a nice chaste young girl before she went of to college and became a raging crack whore with two kids from two different men. As a parent, you can do your best to keep away all the bad influences, but the moment your child encounters one, it will still come down to his or her personal decision to embrace or reject it. Who would make a better decision: a person who has no idea what this influence is, or a person with extensive knowledge about the different aspects, variations, and consequences? Your solution is absurd on several different levels. The world is what is is: change is possible, but there are always undesirable remnants. It's kinda like traffic: you can have as many traffic laws and enforcement levels you want, but there will still be accidents. Shielding your children versus exposing and EDUCATING THEM about these various unpleasant aspects of society means the difference between sitting in a burning vehicle weeping in bewilderment instead of crawling out, calling the cops, and waiting for the ambulance to come while remaining calm to avoid going into shock.

ya know, if ya actually read the history of McCarthy, you'd know that closet homofaggot essentially destroyed his own credibility with his numerous false accusations and that ill-fated investigation on the U.S. Army. Also, his BFF and favorite cock Roy Cohn caught teh AIDS from too much buttsecks. Hollywood/liberals/Marxist conspirators had little to do with the fallout from their sensationalist dumbasserry...

Exodus (21:22-25)
And if men struggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that she has a miscarriage, yet there is no further injury, he shall surely be fined as the woman's husband may demand of him; and he shall pay as the judges decide. But if there is any further injury, then you shall appoint as a penalty life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.

Abortion is a non-issue. I'd bet over half the wimminz in your church would have signed up for a free utero-scraping had they known God's law gives abortion the thumbs up. Hell, they'd probably be even more motivated since according to God, they should get paid a few bucks for it as well.

Ian,
All one has to do is study the Bible and the other historical writtings of the day to realize that we are moving in the direction of the faliure of "man's" society. This is good news for those of us who are saved! However, the price for those of us who have to live through the kind of things that will happen during the "last days" will be more than most can bare. True, we are moving in a more liberal direction, and have been doing so for some time. Consequently, things have been getting worse and worse. By stopping the "gradualism" put in place by the Marxists, and turn to Christ, we can postpone these events and make life easier for all for a longer period of time.

Dude. Ian didn't start this. This is Chris. You know, Brandy's husband?

Also, I haven't posted a comment on this blog in the last week. You're arguing with somebody else, you ignorant sluts. Somebody I don't even know myself.

It's probably a goon from www.SomethingAwful.com which is where this whole thing started. I mean, I DID recruit them to do the massive comment spam in the previous blogs. It wouldn't surprise me if they were still floating around here.

You're arguing with the shadows and ghosts of the Internet.

You guys really are that stupid.

I agree that gradualism is taking place, and that it is distorting our views of Right and Wrong. This has been happening for quite some time. It is A Good Thing. Remember when racism was rampant, and people argued that black men in America should be segregated to keep the white breed pure? Should we go back to before those gradual changes in the 60s led to (more) acceptance?

Remember when women's suffrage happened? That was not an overnight movement. It was gradual, and there were a lot of people in a similar mindset to the OP fighting hard against the change. Should we go back to before those times when women knew their place?

How about when the government told the people what religion to practice, remember that? People changed, fought back, and started a revolution to allow people to believe what they want.

Now, we are going through an informational revolution. Nearly all data will be, and should be available to nearly anyone that wants it. Google is going to OCR a lot of out-of-print books. Open Source is bringing MS to its knees (slowly, but surely). The RIAA can't stop or even slow down pirates. People are opening rational discussions about God, and many are coming to realize that it makes no sense. The people are realizing that forcing babies to be born into disharmony (broken families, rape victims, poverty-stricken people) are far more likely to lead a life of crime.

Are you going to fight against the changes of our race as we move forward? You will be bitter for a long time, clinging really hard to those guns and religion. Or you can accept it. Black people eat in the same restaurant you do. Data is free, and should be shared openly. Abortion is sometimes the best option for a mother. Women vote! Who would have thought it would come to this?

We have been gradually changing since the dawn of time (humans weren't produced in a single day, despite what your book says).

You will wake up one day when you are 95, maybe 100 years old, and realize that you wouldn't have been able to live that long if it weren't for medicine gradually changing for the better.

The bible is fiction not fact. You can't keep going back to "but the bible said" when there is nothing to back it up.

I have nothing against faith, or people of faith. I do have a problem with people who are condescending about it.

The Marxist principles you so deride are what makes your social security payments possible, courtesy of hardworking American taxpayers like us. You wanna lament on the good old days? Don't take our socialist handout and bitch about the high cost of health insurance.
